Steve Parkes is CEO of STAR-Dundee and Professor of Spacecraft Electronic System at the University of Dundee.

He has almost 30 years’ experience as an electronics engineer in the space sector. Before that he worked on underwater acoustics for navigation and telemetry applications. Steve wrote the SpaceWire standard for spacecraft on-board data-handling with inputs from international spacecraft engineers and is currently writing the next generation SpaceFibre standard. He also works on vision-based navigation for planetary landers and spectrometers for atmospheric chemistry, and is the Director of the Dundee Satellite Receiving Station.
