Roland Trautner received his M.Sc. degree in Telematics at the Technical University of Graz in 1995, and his PhD from the same University in 1999. He is an International Space University Alumni (SSP 2001) and was a Reseach Fellow in ESA's science department 1999-2001. After working for some years for ESA's Science department on technical management and payload engineering for Philae, Beagle2, and Venus Express, he joined ESA's Data Systems Division in 2007, working as Technical Officer on on-board payload data processing systems, and related studies and topics. Since then he has provided technical support and management services to several ESA missions including Huygens, ExoMars 2016 and 2020, and others predominantly in the area of scientific paylaods. In TEC-EDP, he is responsible for driving the development of Digital Signal Processors and related technologies. Among his recent, mostly technical publications, he has compiled the new ESA dossier and R&D roadmap for On-board Payload Data Processing Technologies.
