Room: Einstein
The screened-relativistic (SR) treatment allows one to evaluate the NIEL (non-ionising energy-loss) deposition due to (nuclear) Coloumb interactions, in elements and compounds, as a function of the displacement threshold energy. The SR-NIEL methodology is reviewed, as well as the status of its implementation in ESA codes and in GEANT4. Furthermore, the irradiation campaign for triple and single junction solar cells, and MESA diodes - realized with the same technology - is discussed. Preliminary results - obtained from triple junction solar cells irradiated with electrons and protons - regarding Pmax, Isc, Voc values will also be presented as a function of the NIEL doses calculated by means of SR-NIEL.

The STEP-SPE is an ESA’s product data standard which is independent from any proprietary data exchange formats. This standard is intended to be used by the space environment analysis tools so called SEATs (e.g. ESABASE2, SPIS, SYSTEMA, FASTRAD, etc.) during the mission design phases to transfer information between SEATs. This activity has developed a STEP-SPE converter for SPIS 5.1 data model and evaluated the STEP-SPE data exchange capabilities of four SEATs (ESABASE2, SPIS, Geant4/GDML and FASTRAD). Finally, it has established a roadmap for further STEP-SPE development.

ESABASE2/Debris is ESA’s tool to analyse the effects of the space debris and meteoroid environment on spacecraft in Earth and Lunar orbits. A brief introduction and overview will be given on ESABASE2/Debris and its capabilities. The main topic will be an overview of the current activities and upcoming features of ESABASE2/Debris.
