Dear SpaceWire and SpaceFibre Technology Developers and Users,

The 29th  SpaceWire and SpaceFibre Working Group Meeting will take place in the Einstein Conference facility in ESTEC, Noordwijk from Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 to Friday, September 21st, 2018.

The following topics will be proposed for discussion:

• SpFi ECSS standardization status and discussion
• SpW and SpFi Networks for Command & Control
• SpW and SpFi Network Management

The event starts on the 19th in the afternoon with the opportunity to have face to face meetings. The workshop program will start at 14:00.

Workshop opening

1 Welcome and Networking

The first hour of the 29th SpaceWire/ SpaceFibre WG meeting is intended to provide networking opportunities.

SpaceWire standard

In this session, the status of the revision of the standard will be recalled; the attendants will be invited to comment on the latest draft revised standard; after discussion, it is expected that attendant agree on a final version of the draft revised standard to be handed over to ECSS Secretariat for edition; this final draft will be based on the latest draft distributed early July, possibly amended by the discussions of this session.

In this session, the meeting participants will be invited to discuss the priorities to give to the ECSS standardisation of the SpaceWire-based protocol currently in draft state. The candidates will include but not be limted to SpW-D+, SpW-NDCP, SpW-FDIR, SpW-TDP, SpW-R, and STP-ISS.

6 Physical Layer Testing

This slot is dedicated to the physical layer testing of SpaceWire. From ESA's perspective, at least a handbook will be needed, which outlines an appropriate test procedure for at-connector testing. The working group is welcomed to actively participate in the development of such a handbook and a possible development strategy can be discussed in this round. The report on the work performed by ESA YGT Jorg Struyf regarding SpW TX testing is provided as preparation material via the WG #29 web site.

8 Status of ESA activities & roadmap

The current status of ESA-funded research activities and our own internal lab work will be presented. In addition, an outlook is given on what we believe is required in terms of future SpaceFibre developments. In a subsequent discussion round, we invite everyone to present their own ideas for future ESA-funded activities.

SpaceFibre EGSE Session

With the SpaceFibre ECSS standard nearly published, it is the right time to present and discuss possible test equipment and EGSE solutions for SpaceFibre links and networks. This slot gives opportunity to three companies to present their novel solutions in this field and the community is welcomed to express their thoughts and ideas for future needs and improvements.

12 Current status of SpaceFibre ECSS standard

The current status of the SpaceFibre standard will be presented. This is possibly the last date on which the standard can be discussed in person before being published later this year. If you have further comments on specific DRRs or other points worth to discuss, please prepare some material and present it during this discussion round.

Working Group Dinner

14 KW106, Katwijk

The WG dinner will take place at the restaurant KW106 in Katwijk. This reastaurant, situated on the seaside front, servers the dishes from the so called seasonal products. It was opened in 2008 and from that time is famous for it's fish dishes. If you are not fond of fish, they can easily provide other possibilities (meat or vegetables).

SpaceFibre Protocols Session

16 Future protocols for SpaceFibre

While SpaceFibre has everything included to realise payload networks, we believe that additional protocols can further extend its scope of application. Firstly, a 'transaction layer' protocol would simplify the configuration of larger networks by unifying the configuration memory space within SpaceFibre end nodes and routing switches. Secondly, a new QoS protocol on top of a virtual network would allow the realisation of many-node command & control applications by splitting this virtual network into further 'real' virtual channels. This slot allows an open discussion on these and other protocol ideas and is also meant to re-establish the idea of an open, voluntary working group for the development of the 'transaction layer'.
