 00 km\, known as Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO)\, the residual atmosphere tr
 iggers significant aerodynamic drag and material erosion. To start operati
 ng routinely at VLEO\, materials and coatings must be selected that can r
 esist continuous orbital-velocity interaction with atomic gases and espe
 cially atomic oxygen.\nThis workshop aims at mapping the current state of 
 the art in Europe in the field of material testing for VLEO\, and to defin
 e areas for future research. This will include traditional approaches to e
 nvironmental testing as well as new facility developments which could be e
 nabling qualification strategies for future missions.\n \nWorkshop format
 \nThe format will be quite flexible\, consisting of a combination of key n
 ote lectures\, presentations\, short pitches and posters. There will be su
 fficient time for discussion and networking during the breaks. The worksho
