Description
The screened-relativistic (SR) treatment allows one to evaluate the NIEL (non-ionising energy-loss) deposition due to (nuclear) Coloumb interactions, in elements and compounds, as a function of the displacement threshold energy. The SR-NIEL methodology is reviewed, as well as the status of its implementation in ESA codes and in GEANT4.
Furthermore, the irradiation campaign for triple and single junction solar cells, and MESA diodes - realized with the same technology - is discussed. Preliminary results - obtained from triple junction solar cells irradiated with electrons and protons - regarding Pmax, Isc, Voc values will also be presented as a function of the NIEL doses calculated by means of SR-NIEL.
