Description

the objective of this project activity is to develop two different new design techniques with different filtering configurations, namely Concept I Filter and Concept II filter, for IF filters with compact footprint, ultra-wide stopband as well as equivalent high-Q performance(i.e. low insertion loss variation and high selectivity by using low-Q resonators). All of proposed circuit samples or techniques have been verified by experiments along with measured results by using LCP bonded multiplayer PCB technology. Filters based on Concept II have been manufactured by using LTCC technology. Also the technique of Concept II has been applied to design for a very wideband filter.

Short Speaker Information

Jia Ni received the B.Eng. degree with honour degree in electrical engineering from the Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China, in 2008. From Mar. 2011 to Jun. 2014, she studied a PhD in Heriot-Watt University. Her doctoral dissertation concerned developments of tunable and miniature microwave filters for modern wireless communications, which obtained the best thesis in school and nominated to the best thesis in University. During the study of PhD, she worked as a visiting research associate in Cape Town University, South Africa and St.Petersburg Electrotechnical University, Russia for 10 months.
Since Sep. 2014, she is working as postdoctoral research associate in MICROWAVE AND ANTENNA ENGINEERING GROUP.Her research interests include tunable and reconfigurable microwave filters, multilayer filter, miniature RF/microwave devices and lossy filter.
