Description
Following the success of the inaugural Young Lawyers' Symposium in 2016, the European Centre for Space Law, part of the European Space Agency, will be organising the 2nd edition on Saturday 18 March 2017 in Paris, France. This event was established to provide students and young professionals an opportunity to participate in discussion and present research on topical areas of space law and policy. Following the symposium, the ECSL will publish papers on its website. The 2017 symposium will have three sessions: 1. The Moon Village and the Legal Aspects of Space Exploration 2. Law and NewSpace 3. International Governance and Space The Symposium is open to all lawyers - such as those in practice, academic researchers and students (including PhD) - who are aged 35 and under. Speakers will be primarily solicited from those who work or study in, or are a national of, an ESA Member State, but may also include nationals of non-ESA Member States. A specialisation in space law is not a prerequisite. Those wishing to present at this symposium are invited to submit an abstract (max. 500 words) and specify which session they would wish to speak in. These abstracts will then be reviewed by the ECSL Organising Committee. Abstracts should be received by 31 January 2017. If you simply wish to attend the event rather than present as a speaker, there is no attendance fee. Please email the ECSL to confirm your place before Friday 10 March 2017. Further information on the event is available on the ECSL website at www.esa.int/ecsl
