OPEN CALL FOR TEST CASE IDEAS 2023

All the WG members are welcome to submit their ideas for a new Test Case Collaboration Campaign.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE SUBMISSION

  1. First of all, in order to submit your test case idea you need to own an INDICO account and to be registered to this website.
  2. Click on "Submit new abstract".
  3. Please fill out all the fields with an asterisk. Feel free to use the other fields to provide a brief description of your proposal and the reason why you think the Working group should select it. Select the Call for Test Case Ideas 2023 track.
  4. Please attach a pdf file with the complete test case definition, detailing:
    Axis system definition
Vehicle geometry (incl. reference area and length), materials data
    Initial conditions
Desired output (e.g. aerodynamic database, for defined altitudes and attitudes, surface heat flux distribution, full trajectory and foot print of the fragments)
Data format for input and output.

NB: The fulfillment of step 1, 2 and 3 is enough to submit a test case idea, provided that the pdf with the details is submitted soon after the selection of the idea, if selected.

Please note that:

  • The test case shall be simple and representative.

  • Your proposal shall comply with the ground rules, reported in this website (see menu on the left).

  • Different disciplines can be involved:
    -INTEGRATION: complete process of re-entry
-THERMAL: thermal time evolutions for imposed heat fluxes
-AEROTHERMAL: heat fluxes and aerodynamic coefficients for a fixed re-entry condition.

  • The test case should be appropriate to challenge:
    -Object-oriented tools
    -Spacecraft-oriented tools
    -CFD at predefined trajectory points
    -CFD for dedicated WTT.

  • The test case should be appropriate to perform comparisons:
    -Code to code
    -Code to experiment
    -Model to model.

  • An example of test case definition from 2017 can be downloaded by the home page (at the bottom right).
