Description

EuroGIC: Modelling GICs in Near Real-Time across Europen Power Grids

Visit the EuroGIC booth to explore the ESA Space Weather Service Networks upcoming capability for assessing space weather impacts on power systems across Europe. EuroGIC is developing a near‑real‑time modelling system that predicts geomagnetically induced currents (GICs) across mainland Europe’s electricity network.

What you’ll find
- Live demonstrations of the EuroGIC prototype showing how geomagnetic
data is transformed into real‑time GIC nowcasts. Interactive maps and
visualisations highlighting how geomagnetic storms affect grid
infrastructure.
- Expert insights into the science of GICs, model validation, and future applications for power‑network resilience.

With increasing reliance on technology, understanding GIC risks is more important than ever. EuroGIC offers a first look at tools being designed to help operators and policymakers strengthen Europe’s energy security against space weather hazards.
