Description
The HITOMI Soft X-ray Spectrometer (SXS), despite its short life, provided more than 300 ks of Non X-ray Background (NXB) data in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and a unique opportunity for validating the Geant4 simulation of an X-ray micro-calorimeter background against in-flight real data. All future X-ray missions carrying x-ray micro-calorimeters (e.g. ATHENA, XRISM) will certainly benefit from the ability of the Geant4 toolkit in reproducing the SXS NXB spectra. We present the models describing the space radiation environment, the simulated anti-coincidence and SXS X-ray spectra, and the preliminary comparison with in-flight data.
