Description

This session will present the results and way-forward of the ESA Taskforce on Spacecraft Servicing Interfaces. The objectives of this cross-directorates initiative, part of the ISAM Working Group, are to :
- Set a One-ESA unified roadmap for Spacecraft Servicing Interfaces (SSI) covering Rendezvous, Capture/Docking, Interconnect, Refilling, and Refurbishment
- Consolidate and share interface architecture for modularity & interoperability
- Define actionable roadmap for convergence and impactful deployment
This presentation will describe the proposed architecture for interoperability stemming from this Taskforce, with its key takeaways and guidelines.
It will then deep-dive into each features of inter-spacecraft couplings:
- Rendezvous & GNC interfaces, with its roadmap for consolidation & convergence on rendezvous zones, proximity communication & protocols and navigations aids
- Grappling & Docking, with passive grappling fixtures converged & released with open IRDs, and active docking system open to innovation within the interoperability framework
- Fluidic couplers and the market coalition approaches to converge on open passive sides
- Power & data ports, from modular system interconnect to simple connections
It will conclude with the roadmap Consolidation and Deployment of Interoperable Interfaces to Act in Space, across the European SpaceTech ecosystem.
