The typical length of time to obtain entry visa to Italy varies depending on the type of visa and on the country of origin. Information whether visa is required and how to obtain it can be found in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
Countries that do not require a special visa for interconnections are the Schengen countries. Travelling on a Schengen Visa means that the visa holder can travel to any (or all) member countries using one single visa, thus avoiding the hassle and expense of obtaining individual visas for each country. This is particularly beneficial for persons who wish to visit several European countries on the same trip.
People who need a visa for entry in Italy are advised to make their application in their home country 2-3 months before the date of travel. Please contact immediately your nearest Italian Embassy, or Consulate for more information about the documents needed and the time required for the visa delivery. If you are not flying directly to Italy, please note that you may need a transit visa for some countries in order to continue your travel.
Examples of non-Schengen country Visa requirement (for business purposes, up to 90 days):
citizens of USA, residents in USA: no entry visa required
citizens of China, residents in Chiun: entry visa required
